At the age of just 18 and with only a handful of senior matches under her belt, Ellie scored a try on her England 15s debut when she came off the bench against Canada in the autumn of 2017.
Ellie’s rugby career has its roots in rugby league, where growing up in West Yorkshire she started at Keighley Rugby Union Football Club before stints at West Park Leeds and Castleford. She then joined Tyrrells Premier 15s outfit Gloucester-Hartpury for the 2017/18 campaign. Ellie’s impressive performances in that inaugural Tyrrells Premier 15s season led to five more Red Roses starts in the 2018 Women’s Six Nations. Ellie made the transition from 15s in August 2018 having scored nine tries in eight appearances for the Red Roses. And she impressed in her maiden sevens’ campaign too.
A lengthy close season injury lay-off meant Ellie missed the first two events of the 2019-20 World Series. Keen to make up for lost time when returning in Hamilton and Sydney, Ellie crossed in her first match back against Fiji and has three tries in her eight matches played.
