Poppy plays at Saracens alongside twin sister, Bryony and both were selected in the 2020 Women’s Six Nations squad.
She started playing rugby at six and played for Bristol between 2010-12 and during the 2016-17 season, with Saracens being her home in between times – a club she re-joined for the 2017-18 Tyrrells Premier 15s. She made her England debut in the 2016 Six Nations, featured in every match in the 2017 Grand Slam winning side and was a late call-up at the Women’s Rugby World Cup that year. In 2018 Cleall showcased her versatility starting all five games in the Six Nations as she switched her time between flanker, No 8 and second row. She featured in all five of the 2019 Women’s Six Nations tests, scoring four tries. She was also part of the Saracens side to seal back-to-back league titles. Poppy was in the ‘Team of the Tournament’ at the 2019 Super Series before earning a professional contract for 2019/20. Poppy scored a hat-trick in England’s 66-7 win over Wales in the 2020 Six Nations.
